What is your parking permit cost?
Rachel--Blugold Central
29:04
It depends on the permit. Resident R permits are $250 for the year and work for dorm parking lots. The Activity Lot and Bollinger lot permits are $125 for the year; these are the lots that are located about 6 blocks off campus.

My daughter is in marching band and will be moving in early. She was told NOT to register for a move in day, just want to verify that is correct.

What about early drop off for the Springboard class?
Hope Wachholz (OA)
35:38
For questions regarding Blugold Preview Days, please feel free to email DAHLBYTM@uwec.edu
Taylor Dahlby

@Elizabeth - You sure can! We do have additional spots available. Email orientation@uwec.edu and we'll get you all set.
Brad
35:45
Preview days are filled. Any alternatives?
Taylor Dahlby
36:10
@Brad - same thing! We're keeping all requests consistent through orientation@uwec.edu, so that would be best. Thanks!
Angela Milas, RN -Student Heath Service
36:13
A student seen at Student Health Service for a sore throat would be charged $5 for the strep throat test. If an antibiotic is indicated, the antibiotic may be purchased from Student Health Service for a low fee or the order may be called to the students pharmacy of choice.
john.jones
36:16
Is registration for drop off currently open?
Billy Felz UWEC
36:35
Yes, that is correct-all programs with early move-in (athletics, marching band, freshmen connect, ETC) will gave housing send your student details about moving in!
Hope Wachholz (OA)
37:59
Yes, you can register for drop off at this time
john.jones
38:49
Even if enrolled in freshman connection, or will those kids be notified when available?
jfoland
40:00
I thought we could have the beds lofted before we got there for move in.
Angela Milas, RN -Student Heath Service
42:04
Health Insurance is available for purchase for international students.
Hope Wachholz (OA)
42:18
@jfoland, due to the pandemic, we are having are students self-loft. There are many helpful videos on the housing website for each dorm. If you have any questions regarding lofting, please feel free to contact housing directly
jfoland
42:39
Bedding for beds in the Towers, is it extra long?
jfoland
43:35
How do you rent refrigerator?
Shana German-Housing
44:10
All beds are XL twins. You can view collegeproducts.com for the refridge rental
Shana German-Housing
45:41
@johns.jones freshman connection will be coming drop off weekend on the 22nd so you should not register for drop off but plan to arrive during the freshman connection time that will be provided in July.
jfoland
46:41
The bedding order form I received from UWEC will have the correct size? They only say extra long, not extra long twin.
Erin Krause
46:50
My daughter was told she has to move in the 24 for a math class. Will I need to register for this or just wait for an email with more details?
Shana German-Housing
47:34
If your student is coming early for programs like freshman connection, athletics, band, they should not register for move in and in most cases drop off will not make sense given the check in date but if it benefits you to come for drop off you are certainly welcome to sign up for drop off as space allows.

when do incoming freshmen meet their advisor and register for classes?
Taylor Dahlby
01:00:12
@Margaret - students have been completing their advising appointments to register for classes throughout the month of June (so we'll still have dates remaining this week and next). They would have received emails outlining the expectations of this piece of orientation as well.
Billy Felz UWEC
01:00:57
Your student should have signed up for an hour long advising appointment with their advisor…by the end of the meeting, they will have completed their schedule for the fall. If your student has not signed up for the appointment have them check their emails…or let us know.
john.jones
01:01:25
Did I hear correctly that all freshman may not be able to get a parking permit?
Margaret Mitchell
01:01:30
thank you….she may have done this already…I’ll double check with her.
Brad
01:01:54
You look out of this world Hope. Ha.
Rachel Leopold (OA)

Carey Johnson
01:02:19
If students are going to the freshman connection, will they be moving into their actual dorm?
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:02:21
Ha. I love my space backgrounds
Colleen
01:02:31
How do we go about getting a parking permit?
Tami -Blugold Central
01:02:31
Parking permit emails will be sent to students on July 27th but not all students will get a parking permit, they are sold on a first come first serve sale.
john.jones
01:02:35
But we can't sign until 7/27, correct?
Ann Burns
01:02:48
How do we see what is included in the required diversity and inclusion program?
Stacy Chojnacki
01:03:15
do students need to sign up/pay for an athletic pass?
Shana German-Housing
01:03:37
@Carey Johnson..yes Housing's goal is to move students directly to their fall space if arrive early.
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:03:40
So on 7/27, your student will be emailed information on how to purchase permits. However, students won't actually be able to buy permits until August 10th

01:04:46
I saw students from Minnesota need to register for reciprocal tuition - what about Illinois?
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:05:16
I don't think that I did. I think that I just said "campus partners" at the beginning
Tami -Blugold Central
01:05:21
IL students have MSEP, they do not need to file for reciprocity.
Ana Rivadeneira
01:05:44
Ya got me - MSEP?
Angela Milas, RN -Student Heath Service
01:05:53

Erin Krause
01:08:07
Other than a fridge, microwave, and bedding, what are other common handy things students bring for their dorm?
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:08:24
I would recommend shower shoes
Ethan
01:08:28
If we cannot make it to preview day, when do they pick up books and get student id?
Rachel Leopold (OA)
01:09:43
@ethan, either during move-in or if you can get to campus before then!
Paul
01:09:47
Came into the meeting late, how do we access the recording of the meeting?

Michelle Mack
01:11:38
I was told that some band members may need to move twice depending on which dorm they are in as some summer students may just be moving out. How will this all work?
Paul
01:11:40
Thank you
Shana German-Housing
01:12:38
@Michelle Mack. We strive to everyone move to their directly to their fall space this year. Chancellors and Haymarket are the only building were issues may be present as these buildings are being used for summer currently. So all incoming freshman should not have any issues.
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:12:49
@Erin Krause, students will also be sent a packing list for move-in later in the summer with more detailed information. Some other items that I can think of would be having lights or a desk lamp.
Atsuko
01:13:01
Does UWEC offer interim and/or summer/winter courses? If so, how does that impact the minimum/max credit load?
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:13:25
Yes, UWEC offers both winterim and summer courses
Suzanne Selle
01:13:26
How are students charged for credits? Is it the same cost for 12 credits as it would be for 18 credits?
Rachel Leopold (OA)
01:13:47
yes @suzanne, price only differs if its less than 12 or more than 18
heinzjac
01:13:47
If you take a class during the Jan. break, can students stay in the dorms at that time?
Rachel--Blugold Central
01:13:49
Yes, anything between 12 and 18 credits is the same tuition rate.
Hope Wachholz (OA)
01:13:59
If students take courses in the summer, it would not impact the credit load that they'd take in the fall
Rachel Leopold (OA)
01:14:15
yes, they will just have to register for winterim housing when the times comes
Dana Gerard
01:15:02
Can we have Amazon deliver a mini-fridge?

Mike Carney, Academic Affairs
01:15:55

Shana German-Housing

@Kate Kleist. Correct for drop off you may not unpack or decorate. The staff will provide you access to your room, you will move items in and hang up maybe the hanging clothes. After your trips to move all items, the staff will lock your door.
